2012 Fantasy Baseball Sleepers: Catchers

by Howard on December 14, 2011

I know it’s been a little while since I’ve been back here, but again, it’s not like I’m not thinking about fantasy baseball on a constant basis.  Once the fantasy football season wraps up in just a couple of weeks, I’ll be back here full -time in addition to the other sites to which I contribute.

So much has happened over the last few weeks, between the Angels signing both Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson, the Marlins picking up Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle, plenty of Prince Fielder speculation, and, of course, the Ryan Braun banned substance/PED scandal.  Once the dust settles, the music stops and everyone finds a chair, then I’ll be compiling my 2012 player rankings.  But in the meantime, I’m doing mock drafts and am already scouting potential sleepers for the upcoming season.  Below are links to a pair of articles I did for FanGraphs’ fantasy section detailing two of my favorite sleepers at the catcher position — Nick Hundley and Salvador Perez.  Definitely two guys to keep on your radar, especially in deeper leagues.

Can Nick Hundley Be a Fantasy Asset?

No Love for Salvador Perez?

No doubt that Salvador Perez has a bright future in KC. If Nick Hundley could only stay healthy, he could put up 20 homers. We like both of these guys as catcher sleepers in 2012, but we neither are our #1 sleeper.
